The Makeover Tool

I know know who I am anymore.

I have always been a particularly independent person and I know when something rubs me the wrong way or doesn't correlate with my values. However, as long as I can remember during my teenage years I have always felt little lost.
For example: if I read a book and really fall in love with either the book as a whole or a character, I find myself becoming obsessed with who they are and their world. I find myself pinning away over the fact that I wish I was them and I wish I had their "life".
At the end of the day though I end up feeling disappointing that I can't just be me.

I never could understand why people would want to be someone else to be quite honest..My family was never the wealthiest, and in high-school I wasn't the prettiest, but I've always worked towards that which I wanted the most for myself...so I can't say I can sympathize with that feeling of being lost...however, i suggest that if you want to find yourself you start looking deep into yourself, not external things like other people or try to find yourself in books. It's only through deep contemplation on what you want for yourself, how you want to get it, how you want to improve can you begin to find who you are. I don't understand what you mean by your last statement though...you shouldn't be disappointed that you can't be you...because no matter what you do, you'll always just be you. You're never anyone else but yourself , no matter how much you copy their makeup on youtube, or what steps you take to look like them, in the end you're still simply yourself wearing a costume of someone else. What you need to do is simply be yourself, without wishing to wear the visage of someone else, or live the life someone else leads, because it will lead you further away from yourself. Think about the things YOU like, and if you don't know what you like experiment a little with things that pique your interest, whether it be in terms of style, activities/hobbies , etc. In the end, I will say, you may never know who you are 100%, you may find new things about yourself that you didn't even know as you experience more , however, you won't be lost when it comes to what you want.

i think it's completely justified to feel a bit lost now and then. after all, it's not an easy world we're living in, and nowadays, teenagers are being forced to grow up more day by day.
don't think you're the only one that finds herself obsessed with a different world, almost as if it was a parallel universe, an escape. but of course, you know getting yourself in that world isn't possible and unaccomplished wishes lead to disappointment. you just have to remind yourself every day what is it that you want in life, or if you don't know, don't stress out, find yourself more and more day by day. you can't just blink and your entire life's crystal clear. don't over think it all, just let yourself go on a journey of natural personality discovery.
i know it sounds very cheesy, but it's just as true as it is cheesy.
