Anyone ever used straightening kits, relaxers, chemicals, or silicone straightening creams?
Anyone ever used straightening kits, relaxers (at home or at salon), silicone straightening creams..or chemically straightened/relaxed your hair? tell me about it, how long it lasted, did it work, was it worth it, the good and the bad about it. THanks!

OMG dont do it!! i had mine done once and it ruins your hair so so much! then you get the awful curly regrowth. i wouldnt recommend using a hair straightener either. i was alternating one week curly the next week straight and now have the frizziest feral looking hair! if you really want it straight get it blow dried at a salon every now and then. its the one that does the least damage. just be happy that you are a bit unique! curly hair rocks!!! 17 Nov 2009 / Reply answer / 0

I have had my hair permanentaly straighted at the salon once. I believe it was the Japanese version(it is more gentle)... it took about 4 hours at the salon. I thought it was worth it. I loved my hair afterwards, I never had to blow dry or straighten my hair for about a year and a half... basically till my normal hair started growing out was when the kinks and waves and frizzies came back. it is a bit expensive, i believe to have my hair done was around $400... without tip. I have thought about doing it again.... BUT as you know it is chemicals so it does cause some damage to your hair, but not as much as using a flat iron everyday. I have thought about doing the at home kits but.... I am just not sure if I trust myself. I once posted to see if anyone on here had done the at home kit but no one responded soo. I believe the at home kits last 3-6 months maybe? depending on the brand. ( if you decide to have it professionally done make sure the person that you works on you is very very detailed in their work. bc before they set the chemicals they will have to flat iron your hair really really straight. you just do not want to have kinks afterwards if you are spending that kind of money). 17 Nov 2009 / Reply answer / 0

I've used a hair straightener before. But my hair's already kinda straight so it didn't make much of a difference. Well, what you can do is to straighten your hair first then use a hairspray to hold it in place..
Unless your hair's really really curly or wild, it'll take quite a long time to straighten everything. It won't last very long if your hair is really curly, so I suggest a hairspray to hold it in place. But if you really want straight hair, go the salon to have it done(: It lasts for about a year or so then you have to go retouch it again. It won't go back to your normal hair, it'll just be semi-straight. 17 Nov 2009 / Reply answer / 0 Reply answer
