Questions about lesbianism?

I was just wondering ,i mean its sort of hard to explain lol i was wondering if anyone could tell me there story of how they came to the realization of being a homosexual or when they had there first girlfriend and how it felt.

  I'm not gay myself, but my very best friend is. He came out to me before I left for Uni and my jaw literally hit the floor. I actually couldnt believe it! I wasnt disgusted or anything, I just wasnt expecting it. He was never overly camp, he was just one of the lads who I was particularly close to; he's even had a few girlfriends!
  But when I asked him how long he'd known he'd liked guys for, he said since he was 12. My heart absolutely broke for him! He'd kept it all bottle up for so long! Then it all came out. About how he'd struggled with wanting to tell people and trying to deny it and worrying about what his parents would think.
  I felt so bad for ever saying comments or making jokes about gays. Now I don't understand how people can make light of them.
  Anyway, he's been getting on fine during his freshers year! We had a catch up recently and he's really grown into himself. He's got a boyfriend and before he left for uni I sat with him and his family as he told them he was gay. It was one of the most emotional moments of my life as his mum started crying and his dad was all quiet. But it turned out fine. Afterwards his dad hugged me and told me he thought I was there because his son had gotten me pregnant, haha!
