New hair color

i'm dying my hair soon but i dont know what color. i was thinking a dark dark brown with some streaks but then what color for the streaks??
i have very layered hair that i straighten and tease a lot, so i'm looking for a color that wont damage it as much [[somewhere i heard bleaching is bad]]
my hair is currently a blond/brown mess
i'd like someting that looks cool and isn't becoming a trend, but anything works. ^.^
