never channel unless you tell the stylist to cut three to four inches from the scalp because it will make your hair bushier actually. just razor cut the edges of your hair. well the only channeling i know of has to do with ghost and spirits.
and the chemical straightening may actually help take out the wave and puff
straighteners can help
also don't use a hairspray that has water in it

i havent heard of channeling... what is it exactly?
i think your best bet would to keep moisture in your cuticle, keep your hair trimmed and ask your stylist for haircuts to help with your problem.
