i live in utah and its super cold...so short dress probably wont work for me. but color wise i am loving all of your suggestions. i am actually thinking of wearing a dress that looks like it came out of a taylor swift music video.

I definitely like a short dress. Black is always in fashion, but I see white as a little too summery. Purple is a very hot color this year and there are lots of purple formal dresses available. I think you'll find these really cute (I do anyway!) http://www.findmypromdress.com/short-65/

im picturing a turquoise or a little lighter but very bright blue. also deep dark purple with sparkles, or an emerald green. stay with bright colors not pastels or creams. here are some colors that might look good with your lighter tones (dont pay attention to all the styles)
