winter formal. need help on how to make myself look perfect??

so i figured i will go with a more royal blue or an off grey purple-ish color. I AM MAKING MY DRESS. i looks like it is straight out of a taylor swift music video (i find that appropriate considering my date looks like the guy in the convertable in taylor swifts video 'fifteen') so i am planning on doing my hair and make up and accessories all cutesy. but one problem, no idea on how to do that. help??
