What do you think of this dress? Any ideas where I can find a nice dress for a low price?

I'm looking for a nice dress for a Christmas Banquet (night at the Oscars theme) that I can wear for multiple occasions and possibly shorten to use as a semi-formal dress).

I was looking at patterns online, and I really like the purple one here: http://www.simplicity.com/p-1885-misses-special-occasion-dresses.aspx but I don't think I'll be able to make a dress.

Do you know of any places I can buy an inexpensive dress that has potential to be shortened to make a nice party dress? I really like the idea of an empire waist and a halter top...and something that is midnight blue is a bonus.

first there is a very good chance your mom or someone at your church knows someone who can help sew you a dress

you can even look on craigslist.org in your area and see if there are any cheap gorgeous dresses for sale

i love shopping at ross dress for less

and you could sew on some sequins in wavy patterns (i would look at a pic online and place the sequins on the dress while it was on the floor and use a lil dab of fabric glue to hold them in place)
