Hey guys, I need to find the perfect dress for my friends wedding! Any suggestions?

I'm kind of Beyonce shaped.. So it's little bit harder to look good in a dress..
I would like a knee length dress (or something like that. not long that's for sure!), retro styled for a very hot weather.

Why not go for the prom dress? It is nicely snug a the top and flares from just below the waist to hide your beyonce. You can wear an extra tulle (think bright pink under a black and white polka dot) underneath to funk it up. Make sure the hem ends at the right part of you leg not to make it look like stumps and PLZ wear heels! 09 Nov 2008 / Reply answer / +2

Sorry that I don't have any pictures
You could try a dress the has straps that go out to towards shoulders to balance you out. (Not a princess or a cap sleeve)

Or maybe something that has a slight mermaid dress shape to it, and flares out at the knee with rouching on the sides.

A sweet heart neckline can look amazing on someone with curves too.

A halter wouldn't be bad either if you want to show off your shoulders.

If you want a retro feel, you can almost always count on something with a well constructed bodice. Think of a french little black dress, but in white cream or whatever color you'll wear for you big day.

Really there's many options. Though I find that some stores only sell many dresses from one line. Seeing all the stuff that one designer can seem very blah. For instance I went to one place, where the designer they carried put crystals and beading on everything. They basically looked all the same because of the way all the crystals and beads were applied.
Be adventurous, look for those little hole in the wall places. That's where I found my dress. It was a Alfredo Angelo, and I got it for $200 because they were going out of business.

I know you probably didn't ask for this but this is very helpful information to know:
Buyer be wary. The Bridal business is a very tricky one. People will try to rip you off. For instance, I tried on a dress where you could see my belly button indentation through the fabric. They told me it was because it was the sample dress was a little tight. When they went away, I lifted the bottom portion of the dress so it wasn't tight over my mid section anymore, but you could still see it through the fabric. CHEAP dress with CHEAP fabric. Don't believe a word they tell you, ever.
If you purchase, use a credit card if you can, because if they mess something up, you can always fight it and get a refund. Otherwise you can't and are out on a lot of money. If at all possible have signed copies for agreements for what type of work they will do.

Most of the time, dresses are made by a big producer, and shipped to stores where they change the label. Then they won't give you the dress number and company that did it, because they make a killing on the mark up. Look for a well constructed dress, with straight seams (I have seen a few where the seams went in all kinds of directions, where they messed up on a zipper. Check to see if the beads are sewn or glued on. Glue can discolor when you get the dress cleaned. And it also shows the dress is cheap. If the fabric feels cheap, it probably is. Avoid it. Most dresses are made of polyester today. Don't let them fool you with words like tulle, or satin or Italian silk. It's just synonyms for the same thing. Make sure everything is hemmed, and the dress has a lining. When you get your dress, always check the and inside for wear/tear, and makeup stains. In case they try to give you a sample dress instead of a brand new dress. It's been known to happen.

I hope that helps!

Have you searched Beyonce's name and looked at dresses that looked good on her body type and tried to find something like that somewhere near you?

Sounds like the best bet to me.
