My ear is dry around my 00g gauges, what should I do?

I have gaged my ear to a 00g and I've had it like this for almost a year. Around my gauge my ear gets really dry and i keep having to put neosporin on it twice a day. I also can't wear gages that need O-rings because it makes it worse. What can I do to make it better? and why do O-rings make it worse? is there any other medicines I could use? Thanks for any help in advance :]

the best thing would be to ask a tattoo place

maybe you do need to continue to use a disinfectant or that salt water mix you would use on your belly button : P
