Hmm... This is a tough question, there are many things to consider, like what side do you sleep on, etc. It needs to be a side where it won't get in your way. If these aren't problems, then it's free game, whichever side you feel will be seen more, or looks better. Some people have a favorite side.
As for your second question, it all depends on the girl. I personally adore boys with piercings and think they're so hot. But there are girls out there who consider them feminine and not sexy. But for every one of those girls, there's one out there who piercings are one of the sexiest things alive. Just consider what you want, if you think it's sexy, then it's all you.

Courtney is right on. The side you sleep on plays a big part.
Also, I suggest to my clients to get it on the opposite side of another piercing. Like a lip or an ear. So it doesn't look like your face is weighted on one side. That's just me though.
As far as sexual preference being the deciding factor, that sh*t went out in the 80s. Get it where you want it. But be advised, your face can reject them and cause the skin to get thinner with time. So take good care of it and don't wear jewelry that's too heavy.
